Tolstoi’s Confessor Dies in California

San Francisco, Saturday.– On a little ranch near Hayward, across San Francisco Bay, Father Agapius Honcharenko, formerly confessor of the poet Tolstoi, lies dead today. He died alone after thirty years of freedom under the American flag.

Father Honcharenko with his wife was driven from Russia thirty years ago. A year ago the wife died, and since then the aged Russian priest has been failing fast.
