Holy Trinity Cathedral to host 2001 Diocese of the West Assembly
Bishop Kallistos (Ware) guest speaker

SAN FRANCISCO - With the blessing of His Grace, The Right Reverend TIKHON, Bishop of San Francisco and the West, The 2001 Assembly of the Diocese of the West, Orthodox Church in America, will be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral, San Francisco, CA. The Assembly will begin on Wednesday, October 10, 2001, and end Friday, October 12, 2001.

The Diocesan Assembly is the gathering of the clergy and faithful of the Diocese around their Bishop for several days of worship, plenary sessions, and fellowship. Registration will be held from noon until 6:00 PM on Wednesday; Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Archpriest Michael Senyo and Protodeacon Vsevolod Borzakovsky on Thursday morning followed by Plenary Sessions 1 and 2. On Thursday evening, His Grace, Bishop KALLISTOS (Ware) will address the Assembly at its banquet. The Assembly will continue on Friday morning with Plenary Session 3. The Assembly will end with a Service of Thanksgiving.

Accommodations for the Assembly are being made at various hotels near the Cathedral. Please see http://www.holy-trinity.org/ for the registration materials as mailed to parishes and institutions. The deadline for submitting forms and fees is September 1, 2001.

In addition to his appearance at the Diocesan Assembly, His Grace Bishop Kallistos (Ware) will offer a talk to the public on Tuesday, October 9, at Holy Trinity Cathedral on the subject of Confession and Communion.

Holy Trinity Cathedral, established 1857, the oldest Orthodox community in the contiguous United States, is the seat of Bishop Tikhon of San Francisco and the Diocese of the West, Orthodox Church in America. The Very Reverend Victor Sokolov has been Pastor of the Cathedral since 1991.
